Club nights are every Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday nights we start from the North Kesteven Sports Centre (LN6 9AX), except for the last Tuesday of the month, which is now our track night at LSST sports facility (LN5 8PW). The club runs start promptly at 7:00, please aim to meet up a few minutes earlier for any announcements and to greet any new members.

Thursday nights we vary our start location in Lincoln and the surrounding areas, to add spice and the occasional hill to your training. Please see the Training Schedule for further details. We offer a free initial session for a Tuesday and Thursday night so you can come and see what the club offers without committing to membership. Please contact the club via the contacts form or email link for further details.

You now apply for membership online by filling in our registration form. Once submitted, the membership secretary will contact you with payment details and then can register you as an affiliated athlete with the club and England Athletics. Alternatively, we have a paper based membership form you can complete and email or post back.

The membership fee for 2024/2025 is £40 for the year. This also covers affiliation with England Athletics, so you will receive your EA card soon after joining. LDR Membership will run from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025. Anyone joining part way through the club year may be eligible for a reduction in the fees, depending on what time of year they join. Please bear in mind that EA affiliation costs are not pro rata so there will always be a minimum membership fee to cover this.

How do I join Lincoln & District Runners

Thank you for your interest in joining the club. The first step is to come along to one of our club runs and see if you like it. The club offers a free trial session for you to get a taste of what we offer.

What do I need to do on the first night?

Look at the running schedule to see where we are meeting. All runs start at 7:00pm so aim to get there a few minutes earlier.

If you speak to any of the other runners and say you are new to the club they will point you towards one of the run co-ordinators for that evening. They will then chat to you and ensure you are running with the correct group.

Do I need previous running experience

On a club night we will have a variety of running groups, including structured sessions and social runs. We do ask that members should be able to run 5 miles within the hour. This ensures no-one gets left behind.

If you are new to running then we may point you to another local club that may be better suited whilst you built up your running and distance.

During the runs we regularly stop and regroup.

So how do the different running groups work?

On a club night we will normally split up into various running groups. Please see the training schedule for where the club is meeting on that particular night.

At leat one night a week we will include a structured training session, which may be intervals, a hill session, or a time trial. This will be open to all runners of any standard. The remaining groups will be hosted by different run leaders and may include off-road or road routes and vary between 4 to 6 miles. We aim to ensure all running standards are catered for - so one run leader may offer a shorter route for that evening.

All groups aim to complete their runs within the hour

Can I swap groups

You can choose to run with whichever group you want on the night.

Occasionally some groups may merge together if there are fewer people.

I've tried it out and want to join the club. What next?

If you want to join the club, please download and complete a membership form. Please then email the completed form to the membership secretary (details are on the form) or you can email via the following link:

membership@lincolndistrictrunners.co.uk

If you are unable to email the form, then please just bring along to one of the club nights and haned it any of the committee members who are there.

The current membership cost is £35 per annum which includes affiliation with England Athletics. The club can take payment online or via cheque.

Once the membership secretary has the completed form they will email you the details on how to pay the membership fees.

I'm a new member and fancy being a run leader. How does this work?

We encourage everyone to have a go at leading a run. Most of the run leaders are assigned on the night, so if you know the area we are running from, and have a good route planned then you are free to volunteer to lead.

Some points to consider when leading a run:

  • For bigger groups it's worth putting in some alternative routes or intervals during the session so everyone can run at their own pace.
  • Remember to check that no-one is left behind at the back. Put in regular stops to ensure that the group meets up during the run.
  • Try shadowing an existing run leader on a club run to get some ideas.

The club is keen to encourage members who wish to persue the Leadership in Running Fitness (LIRF) course and we offer a substantial discount to achieve this. Please Email for further details
